ABOUT DARKO PLIGL - DARE

Born in Osijek (Croatia) in January 1982, Pligl Darko - Dare now lives and works in Beli Manastir, also in Croatia. Firs nine years of his life was idyllic, careless childhood and many friends, there was nothing to complain about. Then, in 1991 war started and he became a war refugee, this living hell was burning him for seven long years. Poorness, constant moving and isolation he was living in was just too hard him; many times Dare gave up on his own life. But I guess that one old phrase was true; what doesn't kill you makes you stronger! With time Dare started to feel great desire to create, it was I guess Dares reaction to all destruction he witnessed. After a while this desire turned into obsession, and he became addicted to drawing. That feeling forced him to constantly express himself, to learn and progress. With help of few good people who encouraged him, Dare started to expose his work, and after a while he was recognized as really unique and talented artist.

Dares stile of visual expression is not strictly defined, but somehow he like to call himself surrealist. In his earliest beginnings he started to work for three local tattoo studios, bringing and exposing his work made him recognized in this area, but after few years he outgrew these jobs and started to create his own authentic pieces, drawings, portraits... Realizing that he can actually have decent life thru his creations, he starts to cooperate with other artists, learn to focus his creative power and to speak visual language. Thru his artistic growing he had many ups and downs. Lot of times called freak and insane, people putting him down and criticizing his way of life, Dare starts to see the dark side of being exposed. But solid like a piece of steel, Dare continues to create now more than ever. Until now Dare has created over 500 unique arts, from different designs, logos and web pages, to totally wicked surreal drawings, portraits, and unique state of the art tattoo motives.

This page was initially made as simple online gallery of Dare's works, but with time it started to grow to a site with over a hundred arts made by this creative artist. Thanks to good feedback from our visitors (you) this site is growing and improving almost on daily bases. Many good critics and support arrived from our viewers, and Dare started offering most of his work for free download in appreciation to that.
